Upon arrival at San Jose airport, you will be greeted by one of our local Travelous, English-speaking representatives who will be holding a sign with your name printed on it. Your representative will take you to your hotel where you will pick up your travel packet with vouchers and specific information regarding your travels.

Today you will take on one of the world's most scenic white water rivers! The Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica.

Following an early morning pick up from the hotel lobby, transfer approximately 2.5 hours to your destination. Enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast enroute. After arriving at the river, you will be geared up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle and then briefed with a safety orientation. Finally, it is time to take off down the rapids! The first 4 miles consist class II-III rapids, which allos the perfect opportunity to test your skills and gain confidence in your team. Here you will find pockets of secondary growth forest that is extremely beautiful. After about 40 minutes, you will enter the famous Pacuare River Gorge, which consists of 5 miles of some of the best white water Costa Rica has to offer.

After the gorge, the river opens up to a 5-mile stretch on the Valle del Pacuare, where the river has a different character. It is wide open, which gives you the opportunity to rest and do some wildlife spotting.

You will wrap up in Siquirres, at the privateExploration Center, where you can take a shower, change and enjoy the gardens and terrace while having a beer or two with your new friends before heading onwards to your Arenal hotel.

Get ready for an exhilarating day of Canyoning, revealing secret gems of the mountains that few have eyes have seen!After breakfast, you will be picked pick up at your hotel in the La Fortuna area and taken on an exciting 4x4 ride on a mountain road. At the first ranch house, you will receive your gear as well as a short safety and rappelling explanation. You will then embark on a short trek through the beautiful rainforest to the first waterfall rappel where you will descend into the canyon!

The five rappels range in height: from 13 meters (25ft) to 55 meters (165ft). The Monkey Drop Zip Line is approximately 25 meters (82ft) long. After rappelling down the first waterfall, you will climb up the side of the canyon wall, 10 meters (20ft) up, to a short trail. Then zip line across the canyon and rappel down from the cable 25 meters (82ft) to the canyon floor again. Then continue on short trails from waterfall to waterfall through the canyon.

You will then have a short trek out of the canyon to the second ranch house where you return to the 4x4 vehicles and head back to the base offices for a delicious Costa Rican style lunch, just outside of La Fortuna. Enjoy an incredible view of the famous Arenal Volcano. After this tour, you will head back to your hotel for a relaxing afternoon by the pool or in the hot springs.

Río Celeste

After breakfast, you will have some time to enjoy your hotel facilities or one of the many exciting activities offered in Arenal.

After lunch, you will begin your scenic but brief journey to Rio Celeste, located in the Tenorio Volcano National Park. The jewel of the National Park is the volcano, from which it receives its name. Rio Celeste is a river found inside the Park, notable for its distinctive turquoise coloration, a phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction between sulfur and calcium carbonate. The Celeste River also borders several hot springs and has one large waterfall.

You will have an evening at leisure to explore this rich, natural area or to relax at your hotel, the stunning Rio Celeste Hideaway is located in an oasis of tranquility.

Today, you will experience an amazing four-hour rainforest hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park! You'll witness the wealth of flora and fauna of this area, culminating in an astounding view of the main attraction, the Rio Celeste waterfall and river. You will also see the tenideros, the place where the river takes on its magical turquoise blue color. This park also has thermal springs where you can take a rejuvenating hot bath surrounded by the rainforest.

After your hike, you can enjoy the rest of your afternoon at the poolside, taking in the magnificent views of the rainforest.

Rio Celeste Hideaway - Casita Forest

Day 6

After breakfast, you will be taken by private vehicle to the pristine beaches of Guanacaste.

Bask in the warm, golden sun on the beautiful shore of Playa Hermosa (meaning "beautiful beach" in Spanish). Stroll down the beach on the fine, sparkly grey sand or take a swim in the turquoise, clear waters that is characterized by remarkably calm waves. This beach is perched between two mountains that come to life when the sun sets behind them and seeks other horizons.

Spend the morning paddling to beautiful sand beaches, cruise the shorelines and discover little hidden coves. The tour starts from the Playa Hermosa and then makes its way around the various beaches of Playas del Coco. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Savour a delicious breakfast at the hotel and get ready to enjoy yet another glorious day in Guanacaste.

Unfortunately, we say goodbye to you today. A Travelous representative and private vehicle will transfer you to Liberia airport and offer full assistance there. Keep the memories alive and we hope to see you again in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

What's not Included:

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.       In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.       Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.      Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.      Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, permits, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, permits, cruise or hotel deposits). 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
