Port of Haifa: Caesarea, Tel Aviv, Jaffa
Welcome to the Holy land of Israel. Meet and assist is provided upon disembarkation for your private shore excursion today. Depart the port of Haifa and transfer in private vehicle with your Travelous tour guide driving south drive along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea to begin this day tour of the ancient city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great and at one point the largest port in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the seat of Roman rule. View the excavated Roman Theater, with its acoustic and theatrical sound, which is still in use today for major concerts. A new audio-visual presentation brings to life the times of the Romans who controlled these shores 2,000 years ago. We will walk through the excavated fortress and view the aqueduct, once used for conveying water to the city. Travel from old to new as you arrive in the metropolis of Tel Aviv. In the heart of the city are many examples of Bauhaus architecture - more than in any other city in the world, which is why it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. View Independence Hall, where the State of Israel was born, before seeing some of Tel Aviv"s different and often conflicting sides: trendy Shenkin Street, the Levantine Carmel Market, and the stately, Rothschild Boulevard. After lunch, your tour continues on to the Ancient port city of Jaffa with its lovely cobbled alleyways and hear about the famous people linked with this town: Jonah (and the whale), Andromeda, Simon the Tanner, Richard the Lion Hearted, and Napoleon, among others. Return afternoon transfer provided to your cruise ship for your overnight.
There are so many reasons to be intrigued by Israel. For some, it"s the sun drenched climate resting on the shores of the Mediterranean. For others, it's a modern metropolis commonly referred to as the White City. To the world, it's a destination rich in historical and religious significance. A Holy Land where three of the largest religions on earth (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) come together in a Geographical area known throughout time by one name: Jerusalem. From the Dead Sea, down to the Red Sea and back up to the Mediterranean, the allure of Israel is calling.
