Enjoy a full day tour of Delhi, starting with a drive past the India Gate (World War I Memorial), The Presidential Palace, Parliament House and the Secretariat buildings - an interesting blend of Victorian and 20th century architecture. Head to old Jama Masjid, - the largest mosque in India and wonder at the magnificent Red Fort (Closed on Monday) - a marvel in red sandstone, built on the banks of River Yamuna by a Mughal Emperor.

Then, enjoy a ride on a pedicab while exploring the streets in the moonlight square, popularly known as "Chandni Chowk". Chandni Chowk offers a colorful insight into Delhi"s life and has a large number of lanes each of which is different, with its own atmosphere. The two main areas you will visit in Chandini Chowk are: "Khari Baoli," the largest wholesale spice market of Asia where you will have a unique experience here viewing the loading and unloading process; ""Kinari Bazaar," is a whole retail market that has tightly packed stalls selling manner of glittering gold and silver trimmings for weddings and festival decorations.

Lunch is planned in Delhi"s famous Olive Bar & Kitchen, a contemporary restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is located in the neighborhood of the famous Qutab Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed with red sandstone and marble minaret. Finally, visit the mausoleum of emperor Humayun - a forerunner of the Mughal style of architecture.

Drive back to the hotel through Lutyen"s Delhi, the parliament house and the presidential palace.

Embark on a guided tour of the city highlights, which includes the City Palace, standing on a hill on the banks of Lake Pichola, surrounded by crenulated walls. Built in 1567, it is composed of 4 major palaces and several minor palaces that form a single facade. Its main entrance is through a triple arched gate, the Tripolia, built in 1725. The gate leads to a series of courtyards, corridors and gardens, with magnificent Royal Palaces and chambers. Continue on to Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Garden of the maids of honour), a small ornamental garden which was a popular relaxing spot where royal ladies came for a stroll and hence the name. The garden has many fountains in its four delightful pools, chiselled kiosks and marble elephants.

Visit the Crystal Gallery housed in the upper floor at Fateh Prakash Palace, a unique collection of crystal ornaments from four-poster beds to chairs, fountains, vases, crockery and furniture. The dazzling gallery is considered to boast one of the largest crystal collections in the world completing the royal repertoire of Fateh Prakash Palace.

This morning after breakfast drive to Deogarh. The drive time is approximately 3 hours.On arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some time at leisure.

Deogarh is a small farming village near the town of Lalitpur. Located at the border with the former princely state of Gwalior, which is now part of Madhya Pradesh, it is known for its Gupta monuments, located on and near the hill fort on the right bank of the Betwa River. A number of ancient monuments of Hindu and Jain origins are found within and outside the walls of the fort. Here, you will find the Gupta temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which is the earliest known Panchyatana temple in North India. It depicts ten incarnations of Vishnu.

Spend the evening enjoying this quaint village that has much to offer.

After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and drive to Jaipur. You will arrive after an approximate five-hour journey that will be mostly on a modern highway. Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha Dynasty - the astronomer King Sawai Jai Singh. It is the capital of the colorful state of Rajasthan and a jewel of a city, forming one point of the "Golden Triangle."

Jaipur

After breakfast, you will embark on an incredible sightseeing tour of Jaipur! Visit the Amber Fort, which is a classic, romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace, with its rugged, time-ravaged walls and fascinating palaces inside. You will ascend the fort palace on elephant back in the manner befitting the kings who called this place home. Visit the enchanting palaces and gardens inside the fort palace to complete your tour. On your way back, stop at Hawa Mahal - Palace of Winds for a chance to capture this amazing sight on camera and as it is in the heart of Jaipur"s shopping district, to buy souvenirs.

On the way back from the fort, you will take a different route. Taking the old abandoned road, you will drive down to an ancient step-well. These are remnants from a bygone era where these wells were used both for water and shelter. A walk through a village, down to a privately owned farmhouse, Dera Amer, will follow this visit. A traditional lunch will be served here. At the farmhouse itself, turban and sari tying demonstrations will be arranged and a henna tattoo artist will also be present to apply henna to the ladies who want their hands decorated.

After lunch, visit the City Palace, the former residence of the royal family, part of which is converted into a museum. Built in the style of a fortified campus, the palace covers almost one-seventh of the area in the old city. One of the major attractions in the museum is the armory section, housing an impressive array of weaponry. Later visit the Jantar Mantar, which is the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world. The observatory has 17 large instruments, many of them still in working condition.

Today, after a leisurely breakfast, you will be driven to Ranthambhore, one of India"s largest national parks.

The park lies at the edge of a plateau and is bounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary is known for its tigers and is one of the best places in India to see these majestic predators in the jungle. Tigers can be easily spotted even during the daytime. The Park is made up of deciduous forests, which were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India.

Once you are at the hotel relax as you need to get ready for a unique jungle experience next day early morning.

Visit local village and experience the culture of the Indian way of life. Take time to visit a local school and see the enthusiasm of the students in their educational environment.

The people of Rajasthan"s villages are local tribe"s people. Their livelihood depends on; farming, singing and hunting. The village ladies can be seen sporting full body jewellery, encasing the hands, neck and crown. The women are also well known for their colourful clothing such as the phetiya and kanchalli. Their hands are beautifully decorated in henna artwork..Life in a Rajasthani village is simple and unaffected by modern culture. They keep the ancient culture and traditions of rural Rajasthan alive. The villagers are very friendly and are proud to give guests a tour of their home, introducing visitors to their daily way of life. A visit to a local village provides tourists to India with a real insight into rural Rajasthani life. Get off the beaten track and discover the heart of India.

A visit to a local Ranthambore school is sure to be a warm, enjoyable experience for any guest to India. The children are keen to share their latest work with tourists and talk to their guests in English. Pencils and text books can be purchased in advance, from the market, to present to the school as a gift. The children are also eager to take up pen-palling with tourists of their own age. Similar to the village visit, a trip to a local school is an eye-opener into the real, daily life of Indian people.

Ranthambore - Ranthambore National Park

A pre-dawn safari will allow you to witness early morning life in the jungle. This is the best time for bird-watching enthusiasts and you may even get to see tigers on the prowl! Return to the hotel for breakfast and a morning at leisure in this beautiful natural setting.

Note: The jungle safaris are offered by seats in a canter (open topped truck seating 20) or a gypsy (jeep seating six). However, Forest department has control on vehicles to be allowed in jungle. Therefore, private jeeps are always subject to the permission the department.

After lunch, you will be taken on another Jungle Safari. Keep your eyes peeled for leopards, Striped Hyenas, Sambar deer, Chital, Nilgai, Common or Hanuman Langurs, Macaques, Jackals, Jungle cats, Caracals and Sloth bears on the move.

After this exciting safari, return to the hotel and the rest of the evening is at leisure.

This morning, after an early breakfast, you will be met by a local representative who will drive you to Agra.On route, you will visit a UNESCO World Heritage Center, Fatehpur Sikri, an intricate fort city situated about 25 miles from Agra. The most illustrious Mughal Emperor named Akbar built this fort during the second half of the 16th century. He moved his capital here from Agra, but had to abandon it after just 15 years of occupation due to lack of potable water. With its many embellished religious and votive monuments, it is one of the best examples of Mughal architecture.

After the visit, continue your drive to Agra. On arrival, check in at hotel. The afternoon and evening is at leisure to explore this fascinating area. Note: Driving time is approximately 5 hours not including stop at Fatehpur Sikri.

Your full day tour allows you to visit the jewels of the Mughal period today. Visit a perfectly proportioned marble mausoleum Itmad-ud-Daulah. Built by Empress Noor Jahan, the wife of Shahjahan in memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg during 1622-28 AD. The first building to be constructed of pure marble in Moghul India, this two-storey mausoleum is small but perfectly executed, embellished with coloured stone inlay and filigree marble screens.

Explore the Great Fort of Agra, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. Originally planned as an impregnable military structure by Akbar, the Agra Fort, over a period of time, acquired all the elegance, lavishness and majesty of an imperial palace an imposing structure with walls of red sandstone, almost 3 kilometres (two miles) long. The eastern part of the fort (the only part open to visitors) contains palaces, audience halls and mosques built by all the three emperors. The fort presents a good sampling of their favoured architectural styles. The Diwan-i-am (public audience hall) once housed the fabled peacock throne, which incorporated virtually all the important gems of the imperial treasury. The beautiful Diwan-i-khas (private audience hall) and the magnificent Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque) are other attractions within the fort.

The highlight of the tour is the visit to the magnificent Taj Mahal (This tour takes place either at sunrise or sunset). A symphony in white marble, a tribute to eternal love, it was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. There are tombs of Mumtaz and Shahjahan within the mausoleum. Done in white marble, it took 22 years and over 20,000 workers and craftsmen to complete this rhapsody in stone (1630-52 AD). The main structure is set amidst landscaped gardens. While on three sides it is surrounded by high walls, the rear is bound by the river Yamuna.

This evening, visit Kalakriti Theatre to watch a magical portrayal of the true and immortal love story of Shah Jahan (creator of Taj Mahal) and his wife Mumtaj Mahal. This song and dance extravaganza also allows you to catch a glimpse of the famous classical dance styles of the region, mixed with contemporary dance.

Agra - Jhansi - Khajuraho

Board Shatabdi Express the fast executive train to Jhansi from Agra train station.The journey is about two and a half hours.

Upon arrival in Jhansi, you will be met by a local guide at the railway station and driven to Orchha for sightseeing. Visit the Jehangir Mahal, the most grandiose structure in Orchha; the Raja Mahal, another monument of historical importance and the Rai Praveen Mahal. With their rich historical background, these places hold great value for the legacy of Orchha.

In the part of central India also known as Bundelkhand, the monument of Orchha stands testimony to the grandeur of the Bundela style of architecture. Orchha provides a reflection of rich Indian heritage with monumental marvels and its fascinating architecture.

After a delicious lunch at a hotel in Orchha, you will continue to drive to Khajuraho.

This morning, you will proceed on a half day visit to the Khajuraho Temples. Your tour begins with a visit to the Eastern Group of temples. This group comprises of two historic Jain temples -the Adinath Temple lavishly embellished with sculpted figures, and the Parsvanath Temple,the largest Jain temple, sculpted withcharming detail. There are other shrines such as the Vamana Temple with apsaras in sensuous poses, and the Javari Temple that has a richly-carved doorway. Continue to the Western Group of temples which are entirely Hindu, and constitute some of the finest examples of Chandela art at its peak. The largest being the Kandhariya Mahadev dedicated to Lord Shiva, followed by a granite temple - Chaunsath Yogini. The Chitragupta Temple is dedicated to the Sun God, while the Vishwanath Temple sports a three-headed image of Brahma -the Creator of the Universe. The Lakshmana Temple is superbly decorated, while the Devi Jagdambi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Other temples in the Western Group includethe Varaha Temple with a nine-foot high boar-incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Matangeshwara Temple with an eight-foot high lingam, and the Brahma Temple.

In the evening, enjoy a sound & light show at the Western group of the temples, learning the legends and discovering the grandeur of the architecture. This fascinating spectacle evokes the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and traces the story of the unique temples from the 10th Century to the present day. The 50-minute show runs in Hindi and in English every evening. Amitabh Bachchan, the Indian Bollywood superstar, narrates the story of Khajuraho in his mesmerizing voice.

Varanasi, also known as Kashi and Benares, is situated on the north bank of Ganga in the state of Uttar Pradesh in North India. It is one of the oldest living cities of the world, with its history dating back to about 3500 hundred years. For the pious Hindus, the city has always had a special place of pilgrimage.

Located about 10km from Varanasi, Sarnath is one of the important Buddhist centres. It is the site where Lord Buddha had preached his first sermon, setting in motion the Wheel of Law (Maha-Dharmachakra-Pravartan) enshrining the principles of his teaching into the laws of Buddhism. 200 years later, in 3rd century BC, the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka who spread the Buddha's message of love and compassion throughout his vast empire, built massive stupas, viharas and monasteries making it the center of the Buddhist world. Several Buddhist structures were raised at Sarnath between 3rd century BC and 11th century AD and today it presents the most expansive ruins amongst places on the Buddhist trail.

Enjoy an early morning boat cruise on the river Ganges. Varanasi's principle attraction is the string of bathing ghats, which line the western ghats of River Ganges. The spectacular 4 Km sweep of the Ghats is a unique sight, best viewed at dawn. The boat ride presents an incredible scene as the devotees come to the river to pay homage to the Sun God. Pass the bathing ghats where thousands of pilgrims immerse themselves in the holy water of the Ganges River and the burning ghats where cremations are conducted

Following the boat ride, you will visit the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple (also known as Golden Temple), the most sacred of all shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city. More than the Ghats and even the Ganga, the Shivalinga installed in the temple remains the devotional focus of Varansi. It is open only to Hindus. Continue to the Bharat Mata Mandir, opened by Mahatma Gandhi and dedicated to 'Mother India'. This simple temple has a perfect relief map of India carved out of marble instead of gods and goddesses.

In the evening proceed to the Ganges to witness the Aarti (prayer) ceremony. You are taken on a boat on the river from where you can watch masses come to the Ghats to offer prayers and float tiny oil lamps on the river.

Red Fort (Lal Qila) - Delhi's most famous monument is an imposing red sandstone fort - a ghostly vestige of Mogul splendour. The citadel of Shahjahanabad was the opulent residence of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan who transferred the capital from Agra to Delhi.

A "Son et Lumiere" (Sound and Light show) is presented at the fort every evening, which recreates the magic of events related to the Indian history, particularly those connected with the Red Fort. The show starts after sunset and lasts for an hour.

What's Included:

  • Accommodation, Activities, Transfers, Meals, and Fees as indicated on your itinerary. Local and international traveler assistance during your tour. Specialised and personalised services.

What's not Included:

  • Airfare to/from the Tour start point, including domestic or inter-country connecting flights, unless otherwise stated in itinerary.
  • tips and gratuities
  • items of a personal nature such as incidentals, excess baggage charges
  • airport taxes/entrance fees, port charges, foreign government departure taxes
  • Visas (unless otherwise indicated), Inspection, Customs, Immigration and Naturalization fees Additional fuel surcharges on cruises
  • Travel Insurance including Medical, Lost Baggage and Trip cancellation
  • Optional activities (golf, watersports, etc.)
  • any other activities or items not explicitly advertised as included in the price of a Tour

 

Reservations/Booking and Deposits:  To book a Tour, each Traveler (or leader of a Group of Travelers) must submit:

 

A.     A completed booking form signed electronically by the main Traveler. By submitting the booking form on the payments page, the traveler accepts our full Terms and Conditions.  

B.     A deposit of 30% of the Tour price (minimum $250 per person), is due immediately upon booking.

C.     The full balance of the trip cost is due ninety days (90) before the trip departure date.

D.      If you book your trip with us ninety days (90 days) or less before the departure date, the full cost of the trip is due at that time.

E.      In the instance payment is made by certified check or wire transfer, reservations will only commence once the check is cleared.

F.      Availability of Services and Accommodations cannot be guaranteed until a Tour is booked.  We will exercise our best efforts to book the Services and Accommodations described in the Tour Itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of Tour date, we may be forced to offer substitutes.  In this instance we will notify you as soon as possible and try to substitute comparable Services and Accommodations based on availability.

G.     Ticketing & credit card processing for international transport and other select domestic airfare pertaining to a specific country is done by a 3rd party and not included in your total land package price unless otherwise stated.

H.     Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $250 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.

       *NOTE: Certain destinations require a 30% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking and therefore, would supersede our standard cancellation policy prior to 90 days in this instance.
