The culturally and architecturally rich Kathmandu stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) in the bowl-shaped Kathmandu Valley of central Nepal. It lies at the crossroads of ancient civilizations of Asia and is known as the "City of Temples" because of its numerous and unique temples. The city has a profound history, spanning nearly 2000 years, as inferred from inscriptions found in the valley. Religious and cultural festivities form a major part of the lives of people residing in Kathmandu.

Day 2
Chisapani

Your adventure begins with a one-hour drive to Sundarijal, located in the northeast of the Kathmandu Valley. The trek kicks off with a long climb to Bulang Bhanjyang (2440m). On the way there, you will hike through light forests and pass through Mulkharka (1800m), a small Tamang village. From Bulang Bhanjyang, the trail slightly descends through a dense oak and rhododendron forest that suddenly opens up into a green pasture. Walking along, you will reach your overnight village, Chisopani where you will spend the night in a comfortable lodge.

Day 3
Gol Bhaniyang

Today, you will start the descent to Pati Bhanjyang (1900m), a local ethnic village. A steep ascend from here will take you to the beautifully terraced fields of Chipling (2170m). The trail proceeds to Thodang Bateni from where you will have an awe-inspiring view of the surrounding mountains, especially on a clear sunny day. Finally, you will continue down to a Tamang village known as Gol Bhanjyang, where you will spend the night. Keep your eyes open for a glimpse of the Buddhist chortens at an ancient cemetery near Gol Bhanjyang.

Day 4
Tharepati

Today's trek brings you through the picturesque Kutumsang (2500m) village. You will then trod through dense and aromatic fir and rhododendron forests on your way to Tharepati. Enjoy spectacular views on the Langtang peak before arriving in Tharepati (after an eight hours trek). Overnight in a lodge that offers stunning views of the surrounding region. Wake up early in the morning and you might find yourself soaring above the clouds.

Day 5
Phedi

In the morning, you will start your walk descending down tranquil green valleys and slopes on the way to Phedi. However, this descent will soon change as you continue to the small village of Ghopte. From here, the trek turns uphill and panoramic views will take you on a smooth journey to Phedi, a town that is peacefully situated within a broad and deep valley.

Day 6
Gosaikunda

Today, you will reach the highest point of your trip, the challenging Laurebina Pass (4610m), after five hours of uphill hiking. This point will take you far above the clouds and into an area of absolutely vastness and tranquility. From here, you will descend to the Gosaikunda Lake. This lake is an alpine freshwater lake that melts and slips down to form the Trishuli River. It remains frozen for six months in winter ( October to June). There are 108 lakes in this area, small to medium in size: Surya kunda, Naga kunda, Damodar Kunda, Gai Kunda, etc., being a few of these. The Gosaikunda Lake is known as a holy lake. Hindus believe it to be the abode of the Hindu deities Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri. Its holy waters are considered of particular significance during sacred festivals, when thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit.

Day 7
Sing Gompa

The main attraction of this day is the overwhelmingly beautiful view that you may have on the Himalayan mountain range. On a sunny day, you will be able to see Langtang Lirung (7227m), Ganesh Himal (7406m), Manaslu (8156m). Even the Annapurna Range is visible on a very clear day. Later on, you will weave through pine and rhododendron forests that offer a fresh aroma to energize you on your way. You will reach the village of Sing Gompa where you will bask in the peace that this lonely setting offers.

Day 8
Thulo Syabru

Today, you will descend mostly through crisp forest trails, where rhododendrons bring the area into a stunning display of colour during the spring season. After a few hours, you will arrive at Thulo Syabru. Thulo Syabru is a picturesque Tamang village nestled in a valley and surrounded with fields and fields of pasture. Here, you will enjoy a great view of Langtang Lirung and the snow-capped Tibetan Mountains.

Day 9
Lama Hotel

Today, you will begin the descent to Langtang Khola River. The trek will take you through ethnic villages and enchanted forests, filled with maples, pines and firs, until you reach the mighty Langtang Khola. From here on, you will start to gradually ascend while following the riverbanks. When you come to a village called Bamboo, you will be served a tasty lunch. After this time of rest, a steep one-hour climb awaits, after which you will cross a rapidly flowing mountain river. You will hike for two more hours through a deep valley until you reach Lama Hotel, a simple village that offers lodging.

Day 10
Langtang

An approximate four-hour hike through the last of the forest trails will take you Tabela. You will plod through mostly Oak and Rhododendron forests that offer great shelter in any weather condition. From here on, the trail becomes very easy. Mostly flat trails and slight uphill climbs will take you the village of Langtang. At one point, the valley will open up and offer a magnificent view of the snow-covered peak of Langtang Lirung. On the way to Langtang (3500m) Village, you will enter a zone that is characterized by its limited vegetation. Small shrubs replace the dense forests that you have experienced in the past days. Buckwheat, turnip and wheat fields will indicate that you are approaching Langtang and its famous stonewalls.

Day 11
Kyanjin Gompa

The route ahead of you presents many spectacular, 360 degrees mountain views, while crossing small streams and moraines. You will pass through traditional villages with stone-built houses, Buddhist Chhortens (holy shrines) and Mani Stones(holy stones) to Kyanjin Gompa (3960m). In Kyanjin Gompa, you will have to opportunity to admire flora and fauna native to the area. Here, there is a small Buddhist monastery that you can visit.

Day 12
Kyanjin Gompa

There are several options on how to spend the optional day in Kyanjin Gompa. A popular option is a steep, 5-hour hike to Tserko Ri (4985m) for some tremendous views. You will then return to Kyanjin Gompa.

An easier option is to hike around the valley itself so to explore the beautiful region. There are plenty of waterfalls, wild beehives and hanging cliffs to enjoy.

A packed lunch from your teahouse lodge will accompany you on both activities.

Day 13
Lama Hotel

Today, you will descend to Lama Hotel via Langtang and Ghora Tabela. Once again, you will enjoy the dense forests and deep valleys that characterize this region. The Trek time is around 6-7 hours.

Day 14
Syabru Besi

On this final day of the trek, you will descend six or seven hours through yak pastures and broad meadows until you will reach Syabru Besi, where the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers meet. The views on this last day are truly spectacular and will leave you with an unforgettable memory of the majestic Himalayan Mountains.

Day 15
Kathmandu

Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu, an approximately nine-hour journey. The first five hours to Betrawati will take you over rough and windy roads, so hold on tight and buckle up. From Betrawati on, the road improves as it is mainly paved. Enjoy the views as you sail along.
